Thanks in > advance for any information. Take a look at my Trivial LVP programmer. It does have a couple of limitations. First off it's Low Voltage Programming only. This means that it's limited to the 16F62X and 16F87X series chips. Secondly I've targeted all my software for Linux. It's a Tait style programmer and should work with DOS/Windows Tait style software. However I haven't gotten any reports yet of it working with DOS/Windows software. Lastly because it's Low Voltage, you lose the LVP pin, which is RB4 on the 16F628. On the upside, it's simple and cheap. One HCT chip and one resistor. Requires 5V only. Parts are RatShack available.
