I remember a long discussion on this awhile ago, don't remember where. I'd check the repairfaq, first, though. I imagine it's on there. http://www.repairfaq.org/ IIRC, the consensus was that there was nothing you could do and still keep that coating. If you use a polish of some sort, you'll end up with a smooth spot on the monitor face.
