You can actually get most any color you want, so perhaps they could make Red/Red super- bright if you would but ask (and order 50K pcs.) There are also "AC input" optocouplers that have inverse parallel IR Leds internally. Popular for some applications, such as AC voltage input to microcontrollers (even PICs).
