Don't forget to tell them that you don't care what it looks like, etc. Most companies have odd bits of their product sitting around that have been sent out for evaluation and returned, and can't be sold as new, that have been used as demos and are scratched up, that have been cosmetically damaged, etc. etc. It doesn't always work (when I was a student I tried it with IBM and got a snarky response, but that's IBM for you).
