David, Have you considered the Fairchild ACE 1202 http://www.fairchildsemi.com/products/memory/ace/ 2K EEPROM for code storage with In circuit programming 64 bytes RAM 64 bytes EE 8 or 14 pin package, on chip 4MHz oscillator (1uS instruction cycle), very low power consumption.
