Yes, Ramtron has a non-volatile '74 flip-flop chip. They also have FRAM chips based on the same technology that has no write speed penalty the way EEPROM does. I2C, SPI, and parallel FRAM's are available. They were very generous to send samples, though I have not had a chance to try them out yet. to me as well. The only problem I see is that I don't know of any major distributors that carry them.
