Hello, I have a wireless telemetry system which is supposed to connect two devices by RS232 serial ports. The system works fine between two PC's, providing a seemless serial connection. The problem is, I'm trying to connect a PC to a datalogger which doesn't use handshaking (the wireless system needs to use handshaking). I've been thinking of using a PIC to receive the datalogger data, buffer it, check the PIC side of the connection, and send data to the PC when possible. The data transfer speed is 9600bps (it -could- be 4800bps, but I doubt that). Does this seem like a reasonable way of handling the situation? I haven't done any serial comm work before, but the little I've read on RS232 handshaking doesn't appear to discount this manner of manipulating it. Any comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
