Rereading my post, seems a bit curt - Not my intent to
be rude. Analyzing the Russo-German war 1941-45 is an
ongoing enterprise - Your question unfortunately does
not have a simple answer -  As a fellow named Arthur
Wellesley said of an earlier, somewhat related event:
"It was a damn close-run thing".
