I also am very tired of hearing (and saying) it ... but it's very true. Many states (notably Texas) execute a large number of convicted criminals each year. It most certainly is NOT a deterrent, it does NOT protect society any more than life imprisonment ... it only satisfies a blood lust, and in my mind is murder by the state.
