I appreciate very much the fair and humble conversation about the disasters in NY, DC, and PA. The media coverage of this chain of events, while honestly grovelling for facts like all of us are, seem to be making a lot of elliptical allegations that the hijackers are "Arab" in origin. I wonder if it is really the case. After all, the record of terrorism on US soil is dominated by acts by U.S. citizens. And if one can think for a moment that the definition of a terrorist is distinct from ethnicity, then it would seem perfectly well possible that these attackers would be US citizens. I don't know whether we are being snow-jobbed by the media or if the hijackers were in fact Middle-Easterners, but it certainly feels that a lot of conclusions are being jumped to--and promises of retaliation are being made that a politician cannot easily reneg on! So many promises have been made that backing-down will soon no longer be an option. Are they going to carpet-bomb suburban New Jersey if the attackers are citizens? Who do you punish then?
