I don't know about GCC, but I'm working on one for SDCC:

The last log entry is May 7. However, I've started back on SDCC after
having spent a few months on gpsim. The backend "post code generation"
optimizer has just been made fully working. (This is the pCode stuff
that's discussed in the URL above.)

Incidently, if anyone would like to provide C-source targeted towards a
PIC, I'll take a crack at getting it to compile under SDCC.

Also, Daniel Webb has been working on/and/off on AnyC. I'm not sure of his
recent efforts.
