My pager vibrator would certainly be a very large spider.  Can you excite a
tuning fork?  Weren't there some watch mechanisms running on tuning forks?
Maybe my imagination ...

Both of these are good ideas. I had thought of the high voltage also but as
I would not have direct skin contact I figure it's a non runner. The relay
though has me thinking.
