16F74 is a FLASH part that can be reprogram with your programmer.
16C74 is a OTP One Time Programable part.

 Hello to all,

 I have this project developed with a 16F74. Now that I go for a small
 series, could I use the 16C74(A), which I think is more easily available
and
 maybe cheaper. As far as I can see on the data sheets they are functiona=
lly
 equivalent. The F74 data sheet also mentions 'pin-compatible to C74A', b=
ut
I
 just want to make sure they are functionally equivalent as well.
 Any inputs highly appreciated!
