I have a project where I will need a quantity between 1K and 10K =
electronic boards fabricated.=20

There must be literally thousands of oversees firms that can ship back a =
complete assembled board. However, I don't have any connections in the =
orient, so how does someone in the U.S find these firms? I could =
purchase the components in the states and ship them to the oversees =
firm. Correct me if I am wrong. But from what I have read, components =
purchased oversees are much cheaper and these firms usually combine bill =
of materials for several jobs and have professional purchasing agents on =
staff who get the best component prices. Besides who wants the trouble =
of purchasing the components here and shipping them oversees. So Ideally =
I would like to do the following:

#1 Provide the PCB artwork (gerber files, assembly diagrams, NC drill =
files etc)

#2 Provide a parts list. If they find a crossreferenced part that is =
cheaper or more readily available, I would assume they would send =
technical data on the crossreferenced components, and ask for my =
permission first.

#3 They would do some type of optical checking of the completed boards =
to verify the assembly

process. Electrical testing will not be necessary.

* Roughly, how long does it take before these companies get back with a =
quote?

* I would assume lead times for finished boards would be less oversees, =
since most components are fabricated in the orient. Is this usually =
true?

* Do these firms have people who speak English?

I would like to get quotes from several firms, as well as get =
recommendations of firms from people who have experience working with =
them. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you all for your time.
