For quite some time now I've been working on a product using a PIC16F877 with a bootloader. Now I've come to the point in the project where I actually want to distribute software images to be downloaded onto the product. In the ideal world, I'd just give someone a hex file and they'd load it onto the PIC(s) then they'd dispose of the file. Since this isn't the ideal world, I figured that I should distribute the hex file with some kind of licensing agreement. At least then, the company that I work for could take some legal action if somebody did something like edit and redistribute the file. Have any of you developed a closed source firmware license that I can borrow heavily from? I was thinking that the license should include clauses that: -allow individuals or companies that own our hardware to distribute and use the firmware only on machines that they own - prevent alteration of the firmware - prevent disassembling of the firmware - retain all of our copyrights - limit our liabilities Are there any other clauses that I might want to include? -Mike ***** Confidentiality Notice ***** This message is confidential .
