I have the schematic for a baby monitor here. I back-engineered
one to use phone keypad tones which were fed to a remote control.
Can't say what the frequency response is, the mains-to-circuit
couplers are small canned transformers (Toko in the original, which
I had copied by a winder). Being small perhaps they would be OK
at 20kHz. Let me know if you want a look and I'll draw them up and
post to a page later
