My machine is P2-266. I disabled the PnP in the BIOS and made sure the parallel port is set to SPP. I changed the 7407 and the PIC (although both are ok), checked the wiring again, but no luck. All troubleshooting check points are ok. I used both DEBUG and another utnility to monitor the port, and it seems it does not respond as it should. For example, when I toggle pin 5 (D3) on and off, it does not respond. When I change some other D's, the level changes on their pins but with netgative sign, i.e. non-TTL. So, I think at this stage, I will have to try it on another machine and see it works.
