People setting out with new designs for PWM control of motors may like to
check out the Intersil HIP4080A (and other devices in the HIP408x series) H
Bridge circuit. It looks like it will run from about 9.5V up to 80V supply,
at up to 2.5A, and has the capability to drive external FETS as well for
higher current. There is also data on doing things like Class D audio
amplifiers.
