Hi Imre, Thanx for the feedback. The wiring of my kit is actually different from the default settings in the s/w. However, I changed the settings to indicate the right Data In, Data Out, Clk etc. I did re-wire the circuit and go thru the verification steps. everything is ok, except whten I connect the parallel port, when pin 5 (Vpp) goes low. It does not change regardless what the s/w is set to. Thru DEBUG, the parallel port base addr is 0378. I sent all 1's to the port, but it measures low. This makes me suspicious about my parallel port. However, I had a brother laser printer two weeks ago and it worked fine. Any suggestions? Kevin, I actually blow my transistor too. What I noticed is the that D3 (pin 5) on the parallel port is always low, which makes the 13.4V voltage appear all the time on /MCLR, hence preventing correct setup. > > > > I am runing Windows98.
