I still have a bunch of unused pins on the 18c252. I had to use the ISD 4004-08 to get the amount of audio required. Actually, I'd like more. I've tried the ISD4004-16, but the audio quality went down too much. So, we're sticking with the -08. The product has a 400 word Braille dictionary in it. The ISD chip holds all the speech. Interface to the ISD4004 is pretty straightforward. I use software from Quadravox to put all my speech files together. It creates a table with a bunch of DEFINEs that I include in my PIC code.
