Remember the thread about the 3D display with mechanical scanning ? I have
seen these glasses work, they are very good.

How about ideas to make an instrument readout 3D using this technology (ir
glasses and polarizers on the display elements and a PIC to steer it).
Using two LCD displays with polarizers at 90 degrees will already do
something (superimposing the images in a mirror or something).
