I also use Boardmaker2 and also the schematic package from the same company, boardcapture. I have had a lot of problems with the dongles and have had a few replacements, but many of the problems are still there. Sometimes, in the middle of an operation the program loses communication with the dongle, and you lose your work!. Apart from the dongle I still like the package, but it is very frustrating. I have often thought about trying to make it work without the dongle, but I doubt if I could do it. Morally I would not have a problem as I have paid for 3 packages and Tsien will not fix the problem. There is another way out for you, get Boardmaker 1, it runs without a dongle and will read your layout files, but has no netlist facilities.
