Hi All, I'm having a problem interfacing an LCD-compatible Noritake Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD; 4 lines x 20 chars) to a P16F74, 8 bit parallel. Basically it works OK, ie I can write strings to the display which come through OK, but after every char or string write the display sets itself off. This display type can be set to 4 different brightness levels by writing commands H00 (min brightness) through H03 (max brightness) to it. I suspect that in some way the write sequence ends with a write H00 command, but there is no evidence of that stepping through the code with MPLAB sim/debug. If I end a char or string write sequence with a 'set brightness' everything is OK, but it should not be necessary. Anyone out there has experience with these displays or has a suggestion as to how to find the problem? Thanks beforehand, Jan Didden -- http://www.piclist.com#nomail Going offline?
