Hi James, this is difficult and you need to specify
nature of the load and actuators.

Re the complex path, you will need to look ahead
at least one vertex (depends on speed) and
calculate max deviation from the current path.
Depending on whether you are driving
a plotter pen or cutting knife or router bit, each
has different requirements for changing direction.
