As for Microchip's size and priorities... if the revision to the 'F87x is late it's probably because so few peope complain that they have higher priorities (like new products everyone is asking for). I have yet to see anything detailed in your messages that does not work exactly as specified in the 16F877 data sheet. One does what one can with what one has and moves on, usually.
