I just called Microchip today to ask if the 18F has the problems of the 16F877. The answer is no. The 18F > solves this quirk. See for yourself, by looking at the 18Fxxx series data sheet, specifically p.70 and p.206-. And you don't need to wait for the 77A version next march. The 18F series is already available for sampling. I see the link on the web page that says "Purchase Samples Online:" and I go to buy.microchip.com but I don't see any 18FXXX chips for sale. Is there some secret handshake that I don't know about? -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different ways. See http://www.piclist.com/#archives for details.
