Wan't a PIC that you can code protect from external reads and writes to = the EEPROM program memory, AND still allow internal reads and writes under software control (I.E. some = type of custom bootloader with perhaps some encryption algorythm), look = no further than the new 18F series. I just called Microchip today to ask = if the 18F has the problems of the 16F877. The answer is no. The 18F solves this quirk. See for yourself, by looking at the 18Fxxx series = data sheet, specifically p.70 and p.206-. And you don't need to wait for = the 77A version next march. The 18F series is already available for = sampling.=20 Neil Gandler Founder, CTO MAI Technology Inc. P.O.
