I've tried MS Sourcesafe a couple of times, due to employers who had already bought the big M$ . Basically, it really sucks. It is hard to use, lacks many features found in even inexpensive source-control packages, and it crashed on me several times, destroying my archives in the process. A colleague of mine turned me onto a package called QVCW by Quma Software. http://www.qumasoft.com It's so cheap it's practically free, has a nice Windoze interfact that's intuitive and easy to use, has PVCS-like DOS commands if you're masochistic, and has worked reliably for me. > -----Original Message----- > From: D Lloyd [mailto:dan.lloyd@GB.ABB.COM] > Sent: Monday, July 23, 2001 4:10 AM > To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU > Subject: [OT]: Version control software > > > Hi, > > I may have asked about this before but times change and > people (er, me) get > more annoyed with the tool they are currently using..... > > So, is anyone out there using MS Sourcesafe? > > If so : > What do you think of it (and are you in a team or lone) ? > How do you think it compares with PVCS (v 6.5)? > Any recommendations for VCS that you think is better than > Sourcesafe/PVCS? > > Regards, > Dan > > -- > http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different > ways.
