Mike,
Just an idea about he UART. Have you considered the MAX31000 It's a small
SPI based
full blown UART has fifo's etc and is easy to use... I had 8 of them hanging
on a single PIC and I'm sure the SX can do the SPI thing.
Not sure about the PIC assembler etc.
