What you are asking is kind of broad. A suitable reply would be worthy of publishing into a book itself:) What you should do is do some research by reading Pic n Easy and searching www.piclist.com and www.google.com for "PIC 16F874", and any other keywords that describe what you are trying to learn at the moment. Try programming a small test program onto the PIC16F874 to get you familiar with the device and tools. Maybe it would just toggle an output line on and off that you could observe it with a scope or connecting an LED to it. Then when you come across something that is giving you trouble and you cannot resolve by a quick search of the archives, post a very specific question here. Hope this gets you on your way. I just started doing embedded program a couple months ago and I find it a lot of fun. (BTW, I got started by buying this serial LCD at www.earthLCD.com called the PICL. It has a 16F877 in it that had a bootloader already burned into it so that I could easily write programs on my Windows PC and download them to the 16F877 through a serial port. IT was a great learning experience.) --BobG -----Original Message----- From: pic microcontroller discussion list [mailto:PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU]On Behalf Of reginald simpkins Sent: Tuesday, July 17, 2001 11:04 PM To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU Subject: How to program a pic ? Me and my classmates are buiding a hydroponic tank. We are using a pic 16F874. We are using a booklet called Pic n Easy programming. I guess it's supposed to be an easy programmind starter kit. If anybody knows anything this would be greatly appeciated.
