Almost all of the normal bulbs are on dimmers in my house and they rarely blow. But then, I don't recall ever replacing the one in the walk-in-robe and it gets switched on-off quite a few times every morning and night. I think it's about 4-5 years old. I have found that Philips ones last a lot longer that the cheap ones. Soemtimes the problem is that the lamps are manufactured overseas and are rated at 230V. The real mains here is different from place to place. In some states, they sell 260V globes to help reduce the problem.
