A bench power supply would have a full wave bridge, which draws current on both halves of the AC cycle. A single series diode only conducts for one of the halves, thereby drawing an average DC current. ******************************************************************** Olin Lathrop, embedded systems consultant in Littleton Massachusetts (978) 742-9014, olin@embedinc.com, http://www.embedinc.com -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different ways.
