My understanding is std practice is to brake in the turn, so long as all of the usual "fun scary" things are absent [gravel, wetness, dead cats, 2x4's, etc]. BTW, I had my fun hitting gravel in a hairpin turn once [spent a week every nite in the tub with a set of tweezers after that], and a 2x4 on a freeway offramp.
