Lately, the PIClist seems to have a slightly sour tone about it and keyboards seem to be getting a bit of Caps Lock use. I know it's very hard to convey "feeling" in emails, but I can give an assurance that I don't try to harass anyone by replying to a problem. To me this list is informative and fun and I hope it stays that way. I know they are hard to understand at times, but this information is written in all the data sheets that I can see, under the STATUS register heading. More specifically STATUS bits DC C and Z are updated in the Q4 cycle. As I understand it, a read takes place in Q1, so it would explain why you can read the actual STATUS value before the Z bit is updated. When STATUS is the destination of an instruction, these 3 bits may or may not be isolated from the data, I don't know, but later on in Q4 they are set according to the logical result of the instruction. Which is why clrf STATUS leaves 000??100 as a result, where ?? is the TO and PD bit values. I hope this helps. -- Best regards Tony mICros http://www.bubblesoftonline.com mailto:sales@bubblesoftonline.com -- http://www.piclist.com hint: PICList Posts must start with ONE topic: [PIC]:,[SX]:,[AVR]: ->uP ONLY!
