I just read that and it didn't seem like a big deal to me. Maybe that's because I just always assume that I've lost control over anything I send to a public email list or newsgroup. If I want to retain some rights to something, I post it on my own web pages with suitable copyright notices, then only reference it by URL on a public list. That way I have complete control and it's easier to update and maintain.
