How about a IR bulb in a desk lamp over the mouse, use the heat much like those hamburger warmers at McDonalds. On a more serious note, there is allot of information on the internet about the medicinal benefits of red and IR light. I have serious thought about using such a light over my mouse pad. Not only would it keep my hand's / wrist's warm, but it might also take care of the pain as well. There is a company that makes red LED light bulbs (www.led.net) for those that may want the medicinal benefit without all the heat..
