If it is a fat-16 filesystem, then chkdsk or scandisk should pick it up and save it as a lost chain of clusters under a funky filename e.g. FILE0001.CHK. If it is fat-32 YMMV. You could also try looking at www.ontrack.com for some downloadable data recovery utility than can be run from a bootable floppy. In theory (with an immense emphasis on THEORY) nothing should overwrite the space, since it is "technically allocated" already (marked as used space in the fat tables). CHKDSK "should" be able to recover it for you though. Just remember to tell it to save the information and it might be a good idea to generate the "undo" diskette when prompted (just to be extra paranoid). I hope this helps you some.
