Does anyone have a source for a ready made battery charger that will work with the individual cells after they are broken out of the packs? They have no nub on the positive side and so won't work in the standard NMH "Renewal" unit. Heh. Here's an idea. Hop on over to http://www.wondermagnet.com/ and contemplate their item #48. This is a super-strong magnet 1/8 inch diameter and 1/16 inch thick. It's metal plated (nickle and gold?) It'll stick rather agressively to the top of a flat-top AA or AAA NiMH battery, and look an awful lot like the "nub" on consumer batteries. On the Sears charger I have, it seems to be plenty to make contact between the batteries positive end and the recessed charger contact (YMMV.) The metal plating should be plenty conductive for typical charging currents. Reusable, removable, interchangable battery nubs. Cheap, too. I'll bet the 3/16 inch cube works pretty good for C&D cells, too (but a 1/4 dia x 1/8 would be better, if it exists.) I don't think I'd use them inside delicate equipment (ie digital cameras) that wants nubbed batteries, but a charger ought to be pretty safe!
