They took the web page that details the acts of in-house sabotage of nuclear power plants by disgruntled or disaffected employees. http://lutins.org/nukes.html is interesting but lacks many incidents involved direct sabotage, while others were the usual rubber-bands and chewing-gum bandaids tech's and engineers who are in a hurry or are lazy often use. I too am beginning to re-think how practical nuclear power is, because of the ability to manage technology. Most of our cultural problems are due to mismanagement - systemic dysfunction. Just look at Gore and Bush. Does anyone think either of these mediocre men would have made it into or out of Harvard or Yale without their family names? Do we want people like that running our nuclear reactors? Running our country? Do we want doctors operating on us, and our children, because they got a scholarship from Micro$oft because they were not 'white', and the college wanted the money? I have heard 1/3 of the students from Ivy League (and probably other colleges) are there because of the 'political' influences of their families. Somehow, I don't think our ruling class elite will ever hear "you are the weakest link". I'm sure many mediocre "C" doctors and nuclear engineers could breathe a sigh of relief when President Bush declared last week at Yale, where he was getting an honorary degree, that even C students can become president. Things are changing! And we must get rid of those pesky SAT's that unfairly 'discriminate' against those pedigree'd elite that can't compete with those cheaters that get tutored year after year! After all Clinton proved, "Its not what you know, or who you know, its who you blow". Such graduates know that if you are not talented, you need to control those who are - use politics. Politics as in degrading those you cannot compete against. Politics as in sabotage. If you live in a house of match-sticks you may get your way by lighting one and threatening to burn the place down. Degrade your competitors - project a 'looser' identity with contrivances and conspiracy, poison them morally and even physically. How often do we see our politicians complain for no other reason than to simply be contrary. How often do technicians and engineers sabotage projects to discredit their managers, and how often does management recruit and employ brain-dead apparachik, that will follow orders however ridiculous and immoral because they have been dumbed down to the level of rusty tools? Lets all watch more 'Survivor' on TV and play the board game too! Lets learn the lesson our Harvard and Yale elite ruling class are teaching us - it is easier to degrade and destroy to get our selfish way than compete - but within the scope of the common good. What truly distinguishes America from the old world was the ability for organizations to exploit and reward the strengths and talents of its members. We took Europe's talented misfits and put them to work. We still do - as long as they don't demand the respect and pay we native Americans demand! (Of course if they did, their indentured-servant visas would be revoked!) If history repeats itself, Chernobyls are inevitable. Its funny how the odds get even at the end of the day. Those that love and let go get much more than those that grab and control.
