> Dear All, > Hello > If my printer (HP LaserJet) is connected to Linux Server, is there any > way I > can share this printer for my Win95 workstation??? How to do that? No problem, thats the kind of setup I have here two printers both on a Linux sever. Firstly install the printer under linux using linuxconf. (If linux doesn't have the correct driver just pick any one - it won't matter as long as you are printing from Windows.) Then install samba (included in most distros) and configure it (by editing /etc/smb.conf) for your workgroup. You may already have this done. (Re)start samba and verify that you can 'see' the linux server in network neighbourhood. Next add these lines or something similar to the /etc/smb.conf: [printers] comment = All Printers path = /var/spool/samba print ok = Yes browseable = No NB: The defatult printer settings in the global section should be ok, so all you need is whats above. Restart samba. On your Win95 machine, naviagate network neighbourhood and find your printer. Right click on the printer and select install. Insert the necessary drivers etc, and try a test page. If you have any problems configuring samba, try http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/samba/chapter/book/index.html -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
