I'm not sure, the smartmedia card is very thin (<0.04" or 1mm), about one half the size of a credit card and has 22 gold plated contacts on the top. It uses nice 8-bit bus and several control signals for reading and writing.

But most digital camera manufactureres use compact flash cards, which is more robust but has 50pin connector and ATA-style interface (looks like hard disk to the processor).
