Dad is an engineer from the vacuum tube mainframe era. When I got interested, circa 1960 or so, I read through his library, which goes back to the '40s: "Proceedings", "Transactions", and so on. There were many such prognostications. The one that happened to stick with me projected govt data processing growing to require 12 computers!
