Hmm, sounds a bit wierd, but I can't think of any theoretical reason this
couldn't work.  You would have to connect everything in series and match all
the polarities correctly and lock the motor shafts as you said.  This would
also require higher drive voltage at the same drive current.  Hooking the
motors in paralell would actually reduce the net inductance.
