roughly quoted from "the psychology of computer programming":

Nearly all tests on computer programming that have involved a statistically
significant amount of humans suffer from the fact that they uses first year
students, novice programmers or the like, simply because using other test
subjects (for instance seasoned programmers) would simply be too expensive.
Side note: the statistical knowledge we have about psychology is (on closer
look) just the psychology of the first year psychology student.
