This is very OT, but i've been thinking. I saw a acronym here on the piclist the other day, I think it was; BTAICBW - But Then Again I Could Be Wrong... Now I had never seen this acronym before but from the context it was used in, and some magical human brain processing, it only took me a few seconds to understand what BTAICBW was... This is some form of evolution, both of the English language and of the human brain. First we had spoken words. Then the progression to written words. Then written words are too clumsy for some concepts... Like simple common concepts, like AFAIK, BTW, ASAP, etc. (ETC??) This is great, only need a few letters to describe a whole concept! Then it hit me! These are symbols, one symbol = one concept. We only use a string of letters because we are typing on a lettered keyboard. So what is the next stage of this evolution of words into symbols? Actual symbols? Pictographs?? Wow... Suddenly it looks like all this technology, internet, etc is evolving us into some type of written language system that the Chinese were using 2000 years ago and the Egyptians 2000 years before that. Full circle. Yep, it is going FC. (I just made that one up) So does anyone know the Chinese symbol for WTF?? Just Saturday night rambling, sorry! ;o) -Roman -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different ways. See http://www.piclist.com/#archives for details.
