Is the LCD backlit?  I couldn't find any info on a brief web search, maybe a
link to the datasheet would help us help you.

If it is backlit, some require +5V for an LED array type backlighting,
other's have an Electroluminescent type that needs an inverter, etc to power
it.

If it's simply the LCD itself not having enough contrast, perhaps there are
some instructions you can send it to increase it's contrast, or a variable
resistor somewhere, dips, etc...

Hi all, does anyone here ever interface PIC with Sanyo 2x16 LCD module model
no. DM1622. I have the datasheet, study all the timing waveform but still
couldn't make the LCD working.
When I first power up this LCD, I noticed that the brightness for this LCD
is very poor when i injecting +5V as its supply voltage and even tied the Vo
pin to ground. Almost can't see the black dots at upper line like normal LCD
module.
