I bought a surplus disposable radiosonde(weather baloon meterological transmitter) from All Electronics about ten years ago. It used what appeared to be some type of thin ceramic with traces on it for sensing humidity. I guess it measured change in resistance or capacitance. You can get cheap humidity sensors from a VCR repair supply outlet. I imagine that they are not very accurate. "G.
