I've always wondered whether (for example) UL certification is a "MUST" for legal reasons or a "SHOULD" for marketing/safety/liability reasons. The FCC stuff is, of course, a MUST, but I don't know where else to look. Of course I suppose there is a specific breed of attorney that could tell me this for a substantial fee.
