I read a reference to a story about a mainframe computer that ran in a
large office building with dozens of terminals for years after they
stopped maintaining it. The story was that after a while something
happened and service people were called in and nobody knew exactly who is
responsible for the machine and what it should be doing so they discovered
it had coped for a couple of years all by itself. Is this a true story ?
Anybody else heard it ?
