If not then the chances are that the carrier frequency on your IR Transmitter is not matching the filter frequency of the SFH506. Not all systems use 38kHz some use 32,34,36 or 40 kHz and some Japanese equipment uses 56kHz. I presume you are specifying the Sony Infra Red Protocol because you have one of their handsets. As far as I am aware this protocol only defines the pulse train, it does not define a fixed carrier frequency.
